TAN Program

The TAN Program demonstrates mastery of a core body of knowledge of investment risk in portfolio management. Our market philosophy is grounded in behavioral economics and extends beyond classical pattern recognition techniques to include quantitative approaches to market research and rules-based trading-system design and testing.

When registering for the TAN Level II Exam using the Level I Waiver, make sure to enter your CFA Charterholder number in your profile information so that you are eligible to waive the TAN Level I Exam.

How Does This Align With The
CFA Program?

The TAN Association recognizes a CFA Charterholder’s knowledge of financial markets, securities and economics. The TAN Program and charter are an opportunity to add a complementary toolset to your investing and portfolio management process – specifically, how price behavior in freely traded markets interacts with the forces driving valuation. Competency and specialization in the analysis of market price action equip dual Charterholders with a competitive edge and differentiated value to their clients and firms. CFA Charterholders find that technical analysis adds an additional dimension to their work, particularly in the areas of timing and risk management.

Is the TAN Program Right For Me?

The TAN designation develops deep knowledge in technical analysis and will directly impact the work of portfolio managers, hedge fund managers, investment advisors, RIAs, investment strategists, heads of research, and chief investment officers.

If you’re interested in market behavior, the gap between intrinsic value and market price, behavioral finance, quantitative systems design and risk management, the TAN Program is for you.
